This September, Langkawi’s tourism sector will be reopened and the island will be receiving tourists again. The main concern is, however, are we all well-prepared to create a safe tourism environment that dutifully complies with the government-enforced SOPs?
Therefore, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) has devised a comprehensive and holistic plan to welcome the reopening of this tourism island to public. The plan named as Langkawi Tourism Recovery Plan (T-REC) was publicly announced by Chief Executive Officer of LADA on 29th June 2021.
To support T-REC, a voluntary certification programme known as MySAFE Langkawi has also been introduced. MySAFE Langkawi certification provides the opportunity for certain business segments (accommodation, food and beverage (F&B), retailing and grocery, as well as tourism agency) that are allowed to operate during National Recovery Plan (PPN) to be certified as complying with COVID-19 SOPs and general health protocols issued by the government.
Thus, a compulsory course to support the implementation process of MySAFE Langkawi certification will be held in stages. The course named as COVID-19 Education and Risk Assessment (CERIA) shall be participated by individuals based on their respective business segments. It will be conducted by Langkawi Tourism Academy@Kolej Komuniti Langkawi with the help of teaching staff from Kedah National Security Council (MKN).
