Langkawi, 20th May 2022 – Tourism Malaysia alongside Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) had participated in India’s largest tourism fair, South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange (SATTE), in New Delhi. The three-day event from 18th to 20th May 2022 was organised as an effort to lure back Indian travellers after the long-awaited reopening of Malaysian borders on 1st April 2022.
At SATTE this year, LADA aims to present Langkawi as the preferred tourism destination and instil confidence among Indians to feel safe to visit the island once again.
With more than 35,000 visitors expected to attend the event, it is anticipated that the number of Indian tourists coming into Malaysia will also increase significantly. This will accordingly encourage greater cooperation between tour operators and members of the tourism fraternity.
The Malaysian delegation was led by Dato’ Sri Dr. Anil Jeet Singh Sandhu, Deputy Chairman of Tourism Malaysia. The team comprised 15 tour agents, three hotel operators, three product owners, three airline operators, and one state tourism board, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) along with several officials from Tourism Malaysia.
Malaysia has opened its shores for quarantine-free travel and welcomes fully-vaccinated international travellers. Starting 1st May 2022, fully-vaccinated inbound travellers are no longer required to undergo pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests, including children aged 12 and below.
