Langkawi, 24th May 2022 – Langkawi had succeeded in creating a new record in The Malaysia Book of Records through ‘The Longest Distance Covered in a Go-Kart in a Day’ recognition awarded at MORAC Adventure Park circuit today.
This go-kart driving event was carried out within 24 hours starting from 11.00 a.m. on 23rd until 11.00 a.m. on 24th May 2022 in collaboration between Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) and MORAC Adventure Park.
Cordially welcoming the event held today, LADA invites more private and NGO groups to participate in organising similar motorsport events in the future.
“Today, Langkawi had carved out its name in The Malaysia Book of Records through a motorsport event by pinning a record on the longest go-kart driving distance covered in 24 hours. Succeeding in finishing a total of 1,110.35 km covered in 894 laps, this record was created by the 31-year-old racer, Praveent Chelvam with 15 years of experience in the field. This initiative is therefore hoped to be able to inspire more parties to continue organising tourism events in Langkawi,” said YBrs. Tuan Nasaruddin bin Abdul Muttalib, Chief Executive Officer of LADA during the Certificate Awarding Ceremony by The Malaysia Book of Records at MORAC Adventure Park circuit.
This programme was also held to promote MORAC Adventure Park circuit as one of the best among its kind in Malaysia. This effort would indirectly attract more motorsport enthusiasts to visit Langkawi. MORAC Adventure Park also emerges as the top choice in the organising of several major championships such as Rotax MAX Challenge Malaysia 2022 and Go Langkawi 6Hr Endurance Race 2022 scheduled to take place at the end of this year.
LADA is planning to conduct various sports events this year to stimulate and restore the vivacity of tourism industry in Langkawi. These include Langkawi International Beach Soccer (16th-18th September), 8th World Carom Championship 2022 (3rd-7th October), Langkawi International Tug of War (LITOW) 2022 (13th-16th October), and Langkawi Swimming Fest 2022 (4th December). Within this year too, two major sports events synonym with Langkawi namely Le Tour De Langkawi and Ironman Malaysia will make a comeback as the country moves into endemic phase.
