On this week’s IGSC, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) teamed up with MR DIY GROUP M BHD, who came to the island to participate in our weekly clean-up programme at Pantai Teluk Mempelam earlier today, to raise awareness towards mitigating ocean pollution. Approximately 200 kg of marine debris consisting of plastic bottles, styrofoam, food wrappers and fishing gubbins were collected by the 25 participants. A short briefing was given beforehand on the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark.
Special thanks to the team from MR. DIY GROUP M BHD for supporting LADA’s efforts as the custodian of UNESCO Global Geopark in Langkawi to reduce the amount of floating rubbish found in the waters of our beloved island. This programme aims to preserve and promote the beauty of the island, ensuring it remains captivating for the comfort of tourists and local residents.
Well done and thank you to everyone involved!
Come and join us to clean up our island.
The more, the merrier!
