Langkawi Indian Community Education, Welfare and Culture Organisation in partnership with Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) and Langkawi Parliamentary Office had organised the Langkawi Deepavali Celebration 2019 on 24th October 2019 (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. This programme which is also a part of the events planned in LADA Community Event Calendar 2019 took place in Dewan Orang Ramai (Community Hall), Taman Sungai Raya, Langkawi.
In conjunction with this event, various exciting line-ups were prepared, including the Kolam Art competition, cultural performances by people of all ages, and refreshments. A total of 1,000 guests were present to celebrate the occasion.
This programme was organised to nurture the bond between Indian community and communities of other races in Langkawi, aside from also celebrating the Indians during their Deepavali celebration each year. Other than that, the programme was also capable to showcase and preserve the Indian cultures, other than making them as an element of attraction for the tourists. The joyous celebration managed to appeal to tourists in appreciating and experiencing the diversity of Malaysian cultures and customs greatly enriched by its celebrated racial unity. The ceremony was officiated by YB Juhari Bin Bulat, Ayer Hangat State Legislative Assembly Representative (ADUN).
