Langkawi, 10th December 2021 – Langkawi had succeeded in securing six awards at Malaysia Tourism Council Gold Awards 2021 organised by MTC at New World Hotel, Petaling Jaya. In the same ceremony, 46 awards had been presented to Malaysia’s tourism industry players to acknowledge their roles in strengthening the tourism sector of this country.
YBrs. Tuan Nasaruddin bin Abdul Muttalib, Chief Executive Officer of LADA said, “The agency is expecting that the increase in number of tourist entries into the island would be much improved in 2022. From 16th September until 5th December 2021, the number of tourist arrivals recorded had reached 472,572 with RM487 million total income managed to be generated. Observing the trend, the number of tourist entries has been steadily increasing every month beginning last September. This indicates how Langkawi definitely stands out as the nation’s main tourism destination after experiencing a major slump and being desolated from any tourism activities due to the spread COVID-19 pandemic.”
Below are the six awards given to recipients from Langkawi:
i. Special Awards on Travel Bubble Initiatives – Langkawi Development Authority (LADA);
ii. The Best Cable Car in Malaysia – Langkawi SkyCab (Panorama Langkawi Sdn. Bhd.);
iii. The Best Malay Cuisine and Heritage Restaurant – Kerisik Restaurant @ Laman Padi Langkawi (Langsura Geopark Sdn. Bhd.);
iv. The Best Eco-Friendly Destination – Tasik Dayang Bunting (Langsura Geopark Sdn. Bhd.);
v. The Best 3 Star Hotel (Sea View) – Nadias Hotel Langkawi; and
vi. The Best Islamic Compliance Hotel – Adya Hotel Langkawi.
These awards are proofs of Langkawi’s exclusivity as a world-class tourism island that offers unique and captivating holiday experience for each of its visitors. Efforts to restore the heyday of the island’s tourism industry will be continued to sustain its economy. May the awards obtained inspire all industry players in Langkawi to work hand in hand in building up the prestige of this legendary island’s tourism sector.
