The Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) through the Tourism Productivity Nexus (TPN) initiative in collaboration with the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) has held a meet up session aimed at introducing initiatives under the Tourism Productivity Nexus to increase company productivity. The meet up session on 28 February 2023 was held at the LADA Complex, while 1 March 2023 was held at the Frangipani Hotel involving more than 60 tourism industry players and representatives of major tourism associations from Kedah and Perlis.
The Hotel Step-up Productivity programme was held to share best practices in energy use, management and operations as well as the use of digital technology to reduce hotel operating costs. For energy efficiency, TPN has collaborated with the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) through an Energy Audit Conditional Grant (EACG) that can be applied for by hotels for energy audit purposes. The pilot project of this programme is being implemented with the target of reducing the operating costs of the hospitality industry by 10 to 15 percent.
In addition, TPN also introduced the ‘Sayangi Malaysia’ campaign with the aim of repositioning Malaysia as a destination of choice for tourists. TPN is also in an effort to spread the implementation, message and practice of ‘Sayangi Malaysia’ and invites all industry and community players to join in and use the ‘Sayangi Malaysia’ logo in promotional materials, souvenirs and so on.
