Langkawi, 17th October 2021 – The Solar Initiative Programme at Dermaga Tanjung Lembung is a strategic collaboration between Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA), Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) via its subsidiary, GSPARX Sdn. Bhd., which would also be installing solar power or photovoltaic (PV) system on buildings owned by LADA to help cut down the cost of electric bills. Under this initiative, a PV system with capacity of 363 kWp (kilowatts-peak) would be installed at Dermaga Tanjung Lembung Complex. The system is potentially capable to reduce the cost of electric bills at a range between RM87,000 and RM244,000 per year, depending on the method of financing agreed.
As a show of commitment from all parties involved, the Letter of Intent Handover Ceremony for Solar Initiative Implementation at Dermaga Tanjung Lembung, Langkawi had been held today. The ceremony was also a symbolic representation of the government’s effort in encouraging the installation of PV panels on the roofs of government buildings.
This ceremony was completed with offer letter handover by GSPARX Sdn. Bhd. to LADA and letter of intent handover by LADA to GSPARX Sdn. Bhd. The handovers were witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Takiyuddin bin Hassan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Malaysia.
