The 92nd Idaman Geosite Clean Up (IGSC) programme involved 53 participants consisting of students, lecturers and staff from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, National Defense University Of Malaysia (UPNM) who directly carried out the cleaning and collection of drifting rubbish in and around Langgun Island Beach today.
It is estimated that 240 kg of drifting rubbish was successfully collected by the programme participants. The IGSC programme organised by Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) every week is an initiative to reduce the floating rubbish found in the waters of the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark so that the island is always preserved and remains beautiful for the comfort of tourists and local residents.
Hopefully with efforts and cooperation like this, the beauty of Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark can be preserved as best as possible.
