Langkawi, 19th May 2020 – From 19th to 21st May 2020, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) in strategic collaboration with Panorama Langkawi Sdn. Bhd. (PLSB) and Langkawi Port Sdn. Bhd. (LPSB) will organise Ramadhan Fi Qalbi (Ramadhan in My Heart) 2020. It is part of the programme segments planned for Langkawi community’s welfare and spiritual development, implemented through the method of distributing contributions to asnaf (aid recipients). This programme aims to support Langkawi community in need for Syawal celebration aside from lessening their shouldered burdens and difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic that is also affecting the whole country.
This programme will also be carried out in lieu of the annual Jelajah Ramadhan (Ramadhan Tour) Programme previously held. It was proposed by considering the government’s instruction for public to comply with Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) enforcement for everyone’s health and safety. LADA is also cooperating with Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (Langkawi Branch) to prepare complete information of aid recipients to ensure the programme successfully reaches the targeted community in need.
Overall, a total of RM66,400 will be donated to 332 monthly zakat (tithe) aid recipients in cash form. The contribution will be delivered by LADA via direct Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from 19th until 21st May 2020. In addition, the contribution will also be hand-delivered by LADA to recipients without bank accounts after obtaining approval from Langkawi District Police Headquarters (IPD Langkawi) and Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM).
