Langkawi, 29 May 2023 – The Sustainable, Reliable & Income (SRI) Programme was held at the Creative Space (RDC), LADA Complex. This programme was attended by residents of Langkawi, specifically single mothers from the B40 group and women from the B40 group.

All participants attended a two-week sewing course, which was fully sponsored by the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM) and MyKasih. The course was conducted by SURI, and no participation fees were charged to the participants.

This programme is also managed by Madam Salena Ahmad, who is the founder of SURI company. She is also an innovator for the Malaysian Innovation Foundation (YIM).

The main objective of SURI is to maximise profits through sewing-based businesses supported by single mothers. Regardless of age or location, whether in urban or rural areas, women need to have confidence and courage to move forward.

Through this programme, participants can learn creative sewing techniques to produce various types of bags, shinbori tie-dye techniques, sustainable and high-quality product development designs, and generate immediate income after completing the programme.

This programme is the first series and will continue until the tenth series. It is hoped that this programme will benefit the participants and become a source of income for them.
