Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark (LUGGp) with Asia Pacific Geopark Partners celebrated the 2nd Asia Pacific Geopark Network (APGN) Week 2021 from 22nd to 28th April 2021. In conjunction with this occasion, LADA Tourism Department had organised a talk event entitled “Formation of Earth from Perspectives of Islam and Science” on 26th April 2021 (Monday) at 9.00 a.m. in LADA Auditorium. The programme was also attended by LADA Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Management), Tuan Haji Rohaizad bin Rashid.

The knowledge sharing session was moderated by En. Mazlan bin Md Isa with delivery by Cik Rasanubari Asmah Rahmah (LUGGp Resident Geologist) and Ustaz Suhaimi bin Shuib (freelance preacher). Aside from the formation of earth, other topics discussed during the event included the formation of universe as well as proofs of earth creation through seven phases as stated in Al-Quran. A total of 120 participants involving staff of LADA, government agencies, and Geopark ICON had joined and benefited from the programme. They were not only able to enhance their understanding on the phenomenon of earth creation from religious and scientific perspectives but also appreciate the importance of caring for the indispensable treasures of the whole universe.
