Appreciating outstanding children or students in Langkawi is one of the initiatives explored by the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA). LADA and Langkawi District Education Office (PPD) has established a collaboration with Panorama Langkawi Sdn. Bhd. (PLSB), Langsura Geopark Sdn. Bhd. (LGSB) and Langkawi Port Sdn. Bhd. (LPSB) to organise the Student Excellence Award (A-KAWI) at the Ballroom of Hotel Bayview Langkawi on 30th of October 2022. This award is specially designed to reward students who have successfully achieved excellent results in the main school examination.
This year, a total of 63 excellent students consisting of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) students from eight high schools in Langkawi have received the awards.
In the same ceremony, four schools were also crowned for the Special Award category, namely Maktab Mahmud Langkawi (Best Secondary School SPM), Sekolah Menengah Tunku Putera (Best Secondary School STPM), Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Langkawi (Lonjakan Perdana Best Secondary School SPM). In addition, this year the Student of the Year Award (overall) was awarded to Rukiah Binti Abdul Rahmad from SMK Tunku Putera for the STPM exam and for the SPM exam went to Dayana Najdah binti Fauzi from Maktab Mahmud Langkawi.
