Langkawi, 21st March 2022 – A briefing session on the progress of Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark (LUGGp) was held at The St. Regis Langkawi with Tunku Temenggong Kedah, Yang Teramat Mulia Dato’ Seri Diraja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah DKH., DKYR., SHMS.,SSDK.,PAT., J.P., Hon. PhD (UUM)., PhD (KUIN)., Hon. PhD (UPNM) as the Royal Patron of LUGGp.
In this session, YTM Tunku Temenggong was enlightened on the latest progress of Global Geoparks Network (GGN) and National Geoparks by Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Ibrahim Komoo, LUGGp Advisor. LUGGp’s management report for 2020-2021 was also presented by Encik Azmil Munif bin Mohd Bukhari as LUGGp Manager.
Through this opportunity too, several conservation issues which have attracted the attention of YTM Tunku Temenggong were also discussed. A briefing on LUGGp’s preparation in undergoing geopark re-evaluation soon in 2023 was also held during this session.
