Langkawi, 3rd September 2020 – The nation’s tourism industry is hugely affected and collapsing since the beginning of worldwide COVID-19 spread. As a federal agency representing the government on the island, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) has taken the initiative to prepare Langkawi Economy Roadmap Plan (HELANG) to revive the locals’ economic state.
Under the strategy to promote Langkawi tourism with focus, LADA has collaborated with Happy Campers Productions Sdn. Bhd. to produce ten (10) micro-documentary videos highlighting Langkawi’s cultural tourism products.
Today, the Launching Ceremony of Langkawi Micro-Documentary Videos had been officiated by YAB Tuan Haji Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor, Kedah Chief Minister. It was held in conjunction to introduce the micro-documentary videos with new narratives on Langkawi as a cultural tourism destination. These documentaries will present the island as a tourism destination laden with educational values regarding nature, people and culture, as well as food. The production of these micro-documentary videos is based on the concept of storytelling by individuals or figures directly involved in the development of Langkawi’s tourism industry.
The videos will be promoted via all social media accounts owned by LADA and Walkabout Asia following a 10-week schedule starting from 13th August 2020. With 500,000 followers promising the same number of views for each uploaded video, Walkabout Asia certainly has the credibility to promote Langkawi as the nation’s best domestic tourism destination. The ten (10) micro-documentary videos are as follows:
- i. Pandai Kayu
- ii. Beras Terbakar
- iii. Gua Pinang
- iv. Jungle Herbs
- v. Mahsuri
- vi. Jikey
- vii. Dropstone
- viii. Laktud
- ix. Kebuk Arang
- x. Langkawi Horse Riding
LADA is positive that the production of these videos will help boost domestic tourists’ eagerness to experience and enjoy holidaying in Langkawi themselves. This will all together revitalise the island’s tourism industry, increase the locals’ income, and accordingly benefit all parties involved.
-THE END-
