Langkawi, 5 June 2023 – The Datai Langkawi Resort under ‘The Datai Pledge’ programme alongside the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) brought together several agencies, NGOs and communities in Langkawi to celebrate our continuous environmental action initiative to achieve the following SDGs: 11 – Sustainable cities & communities, 14 – Life Below Water & 17 – Partnerships for the goals.

The beach clean-ups took place in two separate locations, namely Pulau Jemuruk and Pantai Pasir Putih, both of which are popular camping spots among nature enthusiasts on the island. Together, approximately 400 kilograms of plastic waste were collected in a single day, which was later handed over to E-Idaman Sdn. Bhd. to be recycled at their Drive Thru Recycling Centre (DTRC) in Kelibang.

This programme will be conducted concurrently with the weekly Idaman Geosite Clean-Up that LADA hosts every week.

Well done and thank you to everyone involved!
